Family Support Liaison: The Family Support Liaison is a member of the Community Support Team and works with families involved with the Child and Family services system through individual work, advocacy and group programming to support them better understand their case plans and work towards completing them. The CFS Liaison will work towards reducing the number of children entering foster homes, increasing placements with family members and will assist with quicker reunification with families. The Liaison will assist families in advocating and understanding the system.

Layette * Welcome Baby*: This service provides newborn babies with essential needs for the first few days at home. Items such as blankets, outfits, sleepers, diapers and many more items for baby. Please let us know if there is anything more we can help you with to make your transition home a joyous and effortless as possible. We’re here to answer questions, provide support, and make referrals.
Inside each Layette bag you will receive:

Income Tax: Do you have a simple tax situation and need help filing your taxes? This CRA approved service allows us to book a brief in-person appointment with you at our office to get the process of filing your taxes started.
Thrive operates a Community Volunteer Income Tax Program Clinic * files income tax returns both online and on paper (depending on the year(s) being filed); taxpayers can get printed summaries of their tax returns.
Eligibility:
- Currently for single individuals whose personal income does NOT exceed $35,000.
- Single parents with total income less than $45,000.
- $45,000 for a married or common-law couple, with an extra $2,500 allowed for each child/dependent.
- Taxes are not prepared for self-employed, rental, end of life, or interest income.
What to bring:
- Bring all T-slips and a piece of valid Identification (driver’s license, Manitoba Health card, or birth certificate), plus any other information required for taxes.
- Married/common-law couples should attend together.

Working with CFS: This full day workshop is open to all who walk within a family and beside a family. This workshop is for parents, foster parents, support workers, service providers, and others who would like to learn more about CFS.
The first part of the workshop provides first hand, extensive knowledge on the Child Welfare Act and Child and Family Services (CFS). Information on the act, the CFS system in Manitoba, the parent and child’s rights, legal information, and other processes with handouts.
The second part of the workshop is discussing the feelings around CFS. By understanding it and the process. The Curriculum of this part of the workshop provides ideas of techniques, resources, and discusses the importance of self-care and healthy management of stress, emotions, and creating a positive support system. A list of resources will be provided.

Community Safety Meeting: When we hear, see or have violence done to us it feels awful, and we often carry around this awful feeling inside. In these meetings we want to give you a place to talk. We also want to give you a place to feel heard. We hope that you can release some of that awful feeling and feel a bit better by the time the meeting ends.

Social Anxiety: Anxiety is a nervous, uncomfortable or worried feeling that typically occurs in the absence of an imminent threat. It is different from fear, which is the natural response of the body to the immediate danger. However, when it becomes too intense it interferes with our lives making us incapable of handling daily situations.
Social Anxiety has become very common and a paralyzing factor for many people in todays society. This program offers sessions providing education about anxiety and how one can manage better. If you are experiencing social anxiety and would like a safe and caring place to:
- learn more about anxiety and access resources
- get answers to questions
- address concerns
- have open conversations with others
- continue your path to wellness

Emotional Wellness: Emotional Wellness is a psychoeducational group. In this group we look at how we understand and manage our feelings through lectures, handouts, group discussion, interactive activities, and exercises. Topics include definitions of emotions, healthy vs. unhealthy emotions. causes and triggers of emotions, awareness of emotions, empathy vs. sympathy, and coping strategies and tools.

Youth & Young Adults Stress Management: This is a relatively new drop-in program that is catered to those in the age group from 19-29 years old who are looking for new ways to explore and manage stress. Creative techniques and outlets with underlying themes addressing what youth and young adults are facing. It will give the opportunity to learn and cope in a different and unique way.

Women’s Sharing Circle : Thrive’s sharing circle, is a safe and honored space for all who identify as female to come together, use their voice, be heard, be respected, and be seen. The Circle of Voices encourages equality, strengthens unity and expresses wisdom. We gather to support, to inspire and to teach each other while embracing who we are.
Linda Migwans has shared with us these words about this program: “While having this honour of walking with you in the Circle, I have seen the growth and healing that we have journeyed through. This process although emotional, has demonstrated several benefits. We form a sisterhood and a self-supporting group, that discusses varying topics. Some of these topics are lifestyle changes of single parenting, being a grandparent and family expectations. We discuss addiction and change; sometimes we talk about resilience and determination when they are the only ones in their family unit who are trying to maintain sober lifestyles. We have become stronger together and built a network of comfort and support.”

Men’s Support Circle: This weekly gathering is open to all who identify as male. Men’s Support Circle is a weekly gathering of men from all walks of life all done in a confidential and respectful space.
Together we thrive by supporting each other. We will listen, feel and manage our challenges and learn how to navigate our journey in healthy ways. The Men’s Support Circle is here to help you experience more personal growth, mental health, success and happiness.

Time to Play: This is for the kid in al of us. Come and experience playful activities that will allow you to work through your stressful and anxious moments and deconstruct barriers keeping you in emotional pain.

Mind & Body Wellness: Hosted by Sanda and Sue. Learn to relax and stretch you mind and body. Learn breathing exercises to calm your mind and body. Ask questions, express how you feel to help you maintain balance on your life’s journey.

Positive Discipline: The program is for moms, dads and caregivers of children of all ages. It addresses common issues that arise between birth and the end of adolescence. It can be helpful for any family. This program is also for future parents. And it is for those who support parents, such as parent educators, parent group facilitators, and family support workers. Some children have particular challenges that are not typical for their age. These include autism, attention deficit disorder, fetal alcohol spectrum disorders, developmental delays and brain damage. If your child’s behavior is of particular concern, you should seek help and advice as early as possible. While this program can be helpful for any family, parents of children with atypical conditions are advised to seek additional guidance from specially trained professionals, such as family doctors and public health nurses.

Nobody’s Perfect: It’s no secret that every parent wants their child to be happy, healthy and safe. But it’s easy to forget that none of us come fully prepared for the job. Families are complex and full of challenges, especially for young parents, single parents or parents who find themselves isolated socially, geographically or linguistically. Our Nobody’s Perfect Parenting Program provides parents and caregivers of children from birth to age 6 with:
- A safe place to build on their parenting skills
- An opportunity to learn new skills and concepts
- A place to interact with other parents who have children the same age.
