Family Support Liaison Services

Thrive Community Support Circle’s Family Support Liaisons work alongside families who are involved with the Child and Family Services (CFS) system, offering compassionate, practical, and non-judgemental support.

Our goal is to strengthen family wellbeing, reduce barriers, and support safer, more stable outcomes for children and caregivers. This includes helping families better understand the system, access services, and build strong support networks.

How the Family Support Liaison Supports Families

The Family Support Liaison can assist in many areas, including:

  • Mental health and wellness support and referrals
  • Parenting programs and skill-building supports
  • Risk prevention and safety planning
  • Navigating Child and Family Services processes and expectations
  • Connecting families to community programs and resources
  • Building and strengthening natural support networks

The Liaison also plays an important role as a bridge between families and CFS agencies, supporting communication and helping ensure families feel heard and understood throughout the process.

Key Areas of Support

  • Advocacy for parents and caregivers
  • Support with case planning processes
  • Referrals to counselling, parenting programs, childcare supports, and community services
  • Strengthening informal and formal support networks
  • Acting as a liaison between families and CFS workers/agencies

Program Focus

This work is centred on keeping families connected, reducing the number of children entering foster care where safely possible, supporting kinship and family-based placements, and working toward successful reunification when appropriate.
